Liam Sabino is Vanderbilt’s 6’1” shortstop. He is a first-generation American, son of a Dominican father and Brazilian mother. 

Sabino takes his abilities both academically and athletically very seriously. “Liam is a very directed young man,” said Coach Tim Corbin. “He is very serious about everything that he does academically and on the field.” 

A defensive stud, Sabino has the ability to play most positions on the infield. 

With the Commodores this season, Sabino saw time in 16 games, starting three. In 24 plate appearances, Sabino notched a .208 average with five hits, two doubles and three RBI. He was also 2-for-2 in stolen bases for Vanderbilt.

The East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania native was another Perfect Game All-American. While playing at Blair Academy, Sabino was a four-year letterman, two-year captain and a three-time state champion. Blair Academy won three consecutive Prep-A state titles from 2012-2014.

“He is a very good hitter now, but projects to be even better with power as he gains strength and experience,” said Gulls General Manager Chuck Paiva. “He brings another tool to his game – speed – and has good base-running instincts.”
