The lefthanded pitcher from Colgate, WI  began his college career at Indiana University where he made two starts and had seven appearances overall. In a 5-inning performance vs. Bucknell, Thicke allowed no runs on one hit with three strikeouts. He spent his sophomore season with Madison College and helped them to the D2 Junior College World Series with a 6-0 record and 2.91 ERA.  Thicke's final two years were spent with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 2013, he finished with 38 1/3 innings with 33 hits allowed. In his just finished 2014 season, Thicke pitched 59 2/3 innings and allowed 58 hits while striking out 43.  He missed his junior season in H.S. with Tommy John surgery but came back as a senior to record a 3-0 record with a 0.68 ERA.  Thicke pitched a no-hitter on the Varsity as a freshman for Germantown HS and participated in the Wisconsin State All-Star Game at Miller Park as a sophomore.
