Nathan Bates is a tall right-handed pitcher who had a strong sophomore season.  He was second on the team in innings pitched and limited opponents to a .264 average.  His freshman campaign was highlighted by conference Rookie-of-the-Week honors.  In 2013, Bates posted a 2-1 record and a 2.98 ERA in 12 appearances covering 45.1 innings.  He was named CAA Rookie of the Week on April 15 after he pitched nine innings and struck out a career-high 11 at New Orleans (4-12-13).At Starr’s Mill High School, Bates was a three-year letter winner.  He collected numerous honors, including 2012 honorable mention all-county by the Fayette County News, Perfect Game Underclass honorable mention in 2011, and Southeast Region honorable mention 2012.
