Seth Simmons is a pitcher from East Carolina.  Prior to the 2010 season he was named to the NCBWA Stopper Watch List.  He validated that selection by recording 9 saves in 27 games.  In 40 innings pitched he struck out 42, recording a 4.28 ERA and just a .253 batting average against.  Seth comes to Newport after spending the 2009 summer playing in the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he struck out 18 in 14 innings.  At East Carolina in 2009 Seth appeared in 33 games, all in relief, going 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA and recording 9 saves.  In 39 innings he struck out 50 batters and walked only 20 while holding batters to a .243 batting average.  In 2008 he appeared in 28 games going 2-0 with a 4.76 ERA and 2 saves, striking out 43 and walking only 17 in 34 innings pitched.  Born to Randy and Suzanne Simmons in Winston Salem, N.C., Seth has two siblings, Sam and Ryan.  Set is also college teammates with Gulls pitcher Brad Mincey.
