After his Junior Year at Cornell, Taylor appeared in 10 games, starting 8. He finished the year with a 2-5 mark and 8.44 ERA. In 42 innings pitched Taylor had 22 strike outs and 11 walks. He threw 2 complete games and led all pitchers with a .979 fielding %.
In high school, Wood was named first-team all-state as a pitcher and was selected to play in the New Hampshire vs. Maine All-Star game. Aside from being the MVP of his varsity baseball team, Taylor also excelled on the ice, being named the New Hampshire Class L Player of the Year (large school) and first-team all-state as a goaltender in hockey. He led his hockey team to a state championship, and his two-sport prowess earned him Bishop Guertin High School Athlete of the Year honors.
