The 2010 season will be Bart Zeller’s first as the Miners pitching coach after spending two seasons as the Miners Bench and Hitting Coach. Under Zeller’s guidance, the Miners had the second highest batting average in the Frontier League (.282) in 2007 and the highest in the league (.284) in 2008.

Zeller is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University where he played both football and baseball. While playing football for the Panthers, he was named all-conference and third team All-American (NAIA) his senior year. After college Zeller was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals and spent seven years as a catcher in the Cardinals organization. He reached the major league club for one year as a catcher and coach.

Zeller managed World Series Championship teams in Mens Senior Baseball in 1991, 1993, 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2007. In 1997 he was named an inaugural member on the Mens Senior Baseball Hall of Fame. In addition to his first season in Southern Illinois, Bart also spent two years as the bench coach for Mike Pinto with the Sioux Falls Canaries.
