DRAFT STATUS: 2011 - Texas Rangers 49th Round (1494th Overall)
VanVossen arrives in Newport on the heels of a sophomore campaign at Michigan State in which he went 5-2 with a 2.97 ERA and one complete game in 11 starts this spring. VanVossen allowed just 26 runs (25 earned) on 58 hits with 20 walks and 32 strikeouts over 75.2 innings of work. 
VanVossen pitched in the Hawaii League last summer, going 3-2 with a 2.93 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 30.2 innings before making the jump to the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League in August, where he made two appearances (one start). 
A 49th Round selection by the Texas Rangers in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, VanVossen elected to attend Michigan State instead, where he went 4-0 with a 3.47 ERA in nine appearances (seven starts) as a freshman in 2012.
