High School: A 2010 graduate of La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico...earned four varsity letters in baseball...helped lead La Cueva to state titles in 2008 and 2010...earned First Team All-District honors his junior and senior seasons...was a First Team All-State selection during his senior season, when he was named the La Cueva Baseball Student-Athlete of the Year...is the only pitcher in New Mexico history to start three different state title games...compiled a 20-4 record on the mound, including a 9-1 mark his senior season...led the state with his 0.92 ERA in his sophomore year.

Personal: An accounting major...parents are Jamie and Laurie McAlister of Albuquerque, New Mexico...has two sisters, Hannah and Jessica, and a brother, Caleb...his father played quarterback for New Mexico State...his cousin is former MLB Pitcher pitcher Justin Duchscherer...was Student Body Vice President of La Cueva High in his senior year...enjoys playing ping pong and poker...chose ASU because it gives him "best chance to win the national title"...his favorite movie is Miracle...lists the Dallas Cowboys as his favorite team...born May 19, 1991...full name is Joshua James McAlister.
