The closer at Florida Atlantic and a teammate of fellow Bat from FAU Jackson Ross, Wegielnik will be a hard-throwing option in the back end of the bullpen after a redshirt sophomore collegiate season that saw him strike out 44 batters in 29 innings while compiling a 2-1 record and seven saves.  He whiffed a season-high five twice (April 24 vs. Old Dominion, May 8 vs. Louisiana Tech) and had three or more K’s in eight of 22 outings.  Prior to his time with the Owls, he played at Florida SouthWestern State College for three seasons after pitching at Cypress Lake High School.  He plans to major in biology at school and, aside from his baseball aspirations, wants to become a doctor.
