AJ Shaw, a Topeka, Kan. native, is entering his first season with the Otters. Shaw was signed out of the California Winter League in 2022, where he suited up for the Oregon Lumberjacks. At the time of his signing with the Otters, Shaw had made nine appearances in the CWL, recording 14 strikeouts in 13 innings with one save. Shaw finished his collegiate career at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. In his junior season in 2020, he only made three appearances with seven strikeouts in only 6.1 innings because the rest of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Preceding his time there, Shaw pitched at Johnson County Community College. Between his freshman and sophomore seasons, he combined to make 23 appearances with 30 strikeouts in 30 innings. His ERA improved from 9.00 to 2.45 from his freshman to sophomore season.
