A native of Newport News, Virginia, Roth played collegiately at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Following his junior year, he was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in in the 29th round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft. After multiple seasons in the Orioles farm system, where he was awarded the Elrod Hendricks Community Service Player Award, he continued his professional career with the Schaumburg Boomers, earning All Star honors in 2012. After the 2012 season, Roth was forced to change his career path due to multiple surgeries, and he began his coaching career under Manager, Jamie Bennett. During the 2013 and 2014 seasons, he served as the Bench Coach for the back-to-back Frontier League Champions. In 2015 he was named the Boomers Hitting Coach, as well as Third Base Coach, and assisted in player procurement. Roth served as the Boomer’s Pitching Coach in 2016 until he was hired as the Manager for the Lake Erie Crushers halfway through the season. From 2016 to 2019 Roth was at the helm of the Crushers, compiling a 197-187 record over four seasons. Having a continued passion for pitching, he also served as the Crushers’ pitching coach, leading the Frontier League with the best staff three out of his four years with the organization. In 2019 Roth lead the Crushers to the Eastern Division Title and earned the Fran Riordan Manager of the Year Award. After the 2019 season, the Detroit Tigers hired him as the Manager for the GCL East Tigers.
