De La Torre enters his first season with the Somerset Patriots and first in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The 5’10” righty spent 2013 at the Major League level with the Boston Red Sox. That year, he recorded 15 strikeouts in 11.1 innings of work for the Red Sox.

Earlier this season, De La Torre played with Piratas de Campeche of the Mexican League. There, he went 4-2 with a 2.78 ERA and 22 saves over 43 relief appearances.

The right-hander also owns nine seasons of service in the minors, including a 22-14 record with and 3.18 ERA over 176 appearances in six seasons at the Triple-A level.

The San Juan, Puerto Rico native began his career in the New York Mets organization in 2006. In 2010, De La Torre was called up to Triple-A Buffalo. Over that year and 2011, he accumulated 75 strikeouts in 68.2 innings pitched for the Bisons.

Last season, De La Torre won six games with Triple-A Louisville in the Cincinnati Reds organization with a 3.32 ERA and three saves over 51 relief appearances.
