Pointstreak Announces Real-Time Scoring and League Administration Solution for Baseball

After months of successful beta testing, Pointstreak has officially announced the launch of its real-time scoring and statistics system for the sport of baseball.

Toronto, ON – Pointstreak.com Inc. announced today the launch of its latest sports platform, a real-time scoring and baseball league statistics software designed for the sports of baseball and softball.  This solution will provide all the features that have made Pointstreak the market leader in the sports of hockey and lacrosse, including Pointstreak’s real-time statistics solution- Pointstreak Stats.  The platform will also provide users with access to Pointstreak’s administrative tools designed to provide solutions for more effective and efficient league/team operations.  Pointstreak’s baseball offering is now immediately available to all levels of baseball and softball including professional, collegiate, high school, youth and little league.

Pointstreak’s entry into the baseball market began in October 2008 with the acquisition of the baseball scoring application, Rakonza.com.  Rakonza.com, an electronic scoring application, developed by Stephen Rakonza, allowed users to record baseball statistics on computers and handheld devices. This technology was conceived as an electronic version of a traditional paper-based baseball score sheet.  Mr. Rakonza has since joined Pointstreak’s baseball technology team which has successfully integrated the baseball game scoring application into the real-time statistical pages and web-based administrative tools of Pointstreak. Pointstreak has also expanded the hardware devices supporting the baseball application, most notably, a fully functional application was released for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch and is available for consumers through the iTunes app store by searching for keyword “Pointstreak baseball”.

Pointstreak’s baseball platform will streamline the process of capturing and delivering game statistics by scoring game information live at the field.  Those game events are then delivered to league/team websites in real-time for the benefit of players, fans and media partners. A unique feature of Pointstreak’s baseball statistical solution is Game Live, a real-time flash application that streams play-by-play baseball results over a 3-D graphical image of a baseball diamond.  Pointstreak Stats for baseball is also geared towards the needs of media sources, providing Associated Press (AP) formatted box scores, allowing for easy reproduction of baseball stats into print media.
