Pointstreak Launches “Online Team Locker Room”

Beta version of www.pointstreak.net launched as a team-based social network designed to virtually recreate the locker room

Toronto, ON – Pointstreak announced today the beta launch of a Web 2.0 initiative called Pointstreak.net (www.pointstreak.net). Officially called the “Team Locker Room”, Pointstreak.net is a team-based social network that provides Team Managers with free, useful tools to organize their team while providing players with a fun, virtual version of their team’s locker room. Unlike other popular social networks such as MySpace or Facebook, which are open to entire networks of people, Pointstreak.net is strictly team-based; focused on the naturally cohesive group that is a sports team.

In line with Pointstreak’s vision of streamlining the processes of sport, the Team Locker Room was designed first and foremost to assist Team Managers, such as captains, coaches, and parent volunteers, to organize game events and communicate with their team. With this guiding principle in mind, Pointstreak.net’s developers designed easy-to-use, online tools that allow Team Managers to:

• Poll teammates to see who’s attending or not attending the next game
• Send automatic email reminders to any player who hasn’t set their attendance.
• Flag certain players to bring items to a game, e.g. water bottles, pucks, etc.
• Email the entire team or individual players.
• Track who’s actively playing, who’s injured, who’s on vacation, etc.
• Set forward and defensive line-ups for each game.
• Check for jersey color conflicts against other teams.

For players, Pointstreak’s Team Locker Room is designed to virtually mimic the fun and camaraderie of the locker room while also providing useful features, such as:

• Automated integration with stats & schedules from Pointstreak.com.
• Personalized player profile, with pictures, bios, stats, etc.
• Ability to download team schedule to Outlook and other calendar programs.
• Ability to post messages, pictures and video links.
• Ability to vote for a game’s 3 stars.

The genesis of Pointstreak.net came from within Pointstreak’s very own development team, all of whom are active hockey players and fans. Their passion for sports and their own initiative have generated an end-product that all of Pointstreak is proud of and excited about.
