Trutt comes to Bryn Athyn College after three years playing junior hockey. Trutt has spent time the 2012 - 2013 sesaon playing in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Philadelphia Little Flyers where he posted a 2.75 GAA and .917 SV%. During the 2013 – 2014 season Trutt spilt time between Northern States Hockey League (NSHL) and the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He spent the first half of the season with Cape Cod Islanders (NSHL) and posted a 2.19 GAA and .931 SV%. The second half of Trutt’s season he was called up to the Soo Eagles in the NAHL where he had a 2.88 GAA and a SV% of .911. In his final season Trutt played in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League (MNJHL) for the Tri-City Ice Hawks where he had a 2.87 GAA with a SV% of .903. During his career Trutt started 64 games and had a career 2.69 GAA and a career SV% of .919. During the 2013 season he was awarded Hockey Night in Boston top pro prospect and top goaltender award. He was also the recognized as the NSHL goalie of the week twice during the 2013 – 2014 season. He was the NAHL honorable mention of December 2013. He was the recipient of the 2014 NSHL Goaltender of the year.
