Nikiforov, 24, spent last season in the East Coast Hockey League, and registered a combined eight points with the Florida Everbaldes, Bakersfield Condors, and Reading Royals. The left-handed shot excelled with the Royals, where he dressed in 24 games and posted five assists for the Boston Bruins’ and Toronto Maple Leafs’ ECHL affiliate.
The Hauppauge, NY product played in 19 games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the New York Islanders in the American Hockey League, and registered one goal and four assists during the 2008-09 season. Nikiforov also spent time with the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies, collecting 84 points over a two-year span (2008-10).
Prior to his pro career, Nikiforov played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (Major Junior) for the Barrie Colts and Sarnia Sting, and amassed a combined 173 points in 179 games from 2005-2008.
