Cornwall erases deficit to stun Orleans, 4-3Ed Lumley Arena Sat, Oct 07, 2006 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cornwall Colts rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Orleans Blues. Cornwall let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Colts took a 1-0 advantage on a power play goal by Kyle Taylor at 11:04 in the first period. Cornwall went down 3-1 after Orleans' Scott Ashton put the puck home on the power play at 16:49 in the second period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a goal by Taylor at 10:52 in the third, the Colts got the game-winner from Ryan Shamshoum at 12:39 in the third period. Cornwall got the win on the strength of a great game by Taylor, who had two goals and one assist. The the Colts penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 22 minors and two majors for 54 minutes in penalty time. Cornwall had been averaging 36.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Colts' offense rang up 35 shots on the Blues' net. Team could not crack Orleans' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 11 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Cornwall additionally got points from Norman Grant, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Kyle Tetreault and Shane Avery, who contributed one a piece.
