Brockville squeaks by Cornwall, 4-3

The Brockville Braves gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Cornwall Colts.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Brent Sullivan's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Brockville was paced by Sullivan, who registered one goal and one assist. Sullivan scored 16:38 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Brockville. Chris Cannizzaro provided the assist.

The Braves' offense rang up 39 shots on Cornwall's net. Brockville was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on 10 chances.

Brockville additionally got points from Michael Schultz, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Shawn Cox, who also had one goal and one assist, and Landon Lavictoire, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Brockville received assists from Ryan Whyte, who had one.

The Colts were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to two goals off of 11 man advantages.

Cornwall was helped by Kyle Flanagan, who registered one goal and one assist. Flanagan scored on the power play 10:02 into the third period to make the score 3-3. The Colts had taken the advantage when the Braves' Kyle Atkins got sent off for slashing. Cornwall also got points from Ian Boots, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kyle Taylor, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Ryan Shamshoum, who had one.

Tyler Kimmel recorded 26 saves for Brockville. The Braves incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Stephane Cesar made 35 saves for Cornwall on 39 shots. The Colts incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
