Detroit Red Wings uses shootout to best Saskatchewan Jr. Pats, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Detroit Red Wings defeated Saskatchewan Jr. Pats in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.

Detroit Red Wings came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Detroit Red Wings trailed 3-2 after a goal by Saskatchewan Jr. Pats' Berkly Catton at 34 seconds in the third period. Detroit Red Wings knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Austin Baker at 7:48 in the third period.

Detroit Red Wings stifled Saskatchewan Jr. Pats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Detroit Red Wings was helped by Michael Hillock, who had one goal. Hillock scored 1:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Baker picked up the assist. Detroit Red Wings also got points from Baker, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Aiden Janz also scored for Detroit Red Wings. More assists for Detroit Red Wings came via Guhnar Hillman and Jack Edwards, who contributed one each.

In addition, Saskatchewan Jr. Pats received assists from Matthew Van Blaricom, who had two.

Detroit Red Wings' Landon Miller stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Detroit Red Wings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities. Jayden Kraus rejected 11 shots on goal for Saskatchewan Jr. Pats. Saskatchewan Jr. Pats avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of four power plays.
