Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as West defeated South in a shootout 2-1. The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. South's shootout goal was scored by Brendon Gysbers. West also got a shootout goal from Ethan Daniels.West kept South's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cody Christofferson made 34 saves on 36 shots. South's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three West power plays. South was led by Gysbers, who scored the team's only goal. Gysbers scored 12:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Ness provided the assist. William Lowe III took the win and made 14 saves before being replaced by Bronson Moore who made 13 saves. West incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. West ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hayden Givens was ejected from the game. South incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For South, Brendan Johns was ejected from the game. |
