Central wins tough contest against North, 7-5

The game between Central and North was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Central emerged with a 7-5 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Shayne Monahan at 4:56 of the third period.

With three goals and one assist between them, Trevor Paradise and Monahan teamed up to power Central's offense. Paradise racked up two goals and Monahan also added one goal and one assist.

Central forced North's netminders to work in net, ripping 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Alex Chen made 11 stops and Ryan Fanti made 14. Central put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow North to score on any of its three power plays.

Central also got points from Jasper Weatherby, who also had one goal and one assist, Monahan, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Dane Johnson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Central also had goals scored by Samir Abouelhana and Andrew Jackson, who each put in one. More assists for Central came via Conner Hunt, who had two and Nick Daluisio, Stefan Krupski, Anthony Starzi, Michael Shippee, Tristan Ashbrook, Jordan Wishman, Brendan Doyle, and Jeremy Wilber, who each chipped in one.

North forced Central's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 36 shots and forcing 31 saves. Hunter Smith made 16 stops and Joseph Giacobbo made 15.

North was helped by Kevin Ford, who grabbed two goals. Ford scored the first of his two goals at 11:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Skylar Miller assisted on the tally. Ford's next tally made the score 3-2 North with 12:24 left in the second period. Zack Olen picked up the assist. North additionally got points from Miller, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for North included Logan Mihalcin and Jacob Brown, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for North were Andrew Walker, Colin Leslie, and Robert McCollum, who contributed one each.

Central incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. North incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
