Pensacola downs Peoria in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Joseph Holka gave the Pensacola Ice Flyers a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Peoria Rivermen when he scored 6:35 into the extra period.

The win gave Pensacola a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

The Ice Flyers were led by Holka, who racked up one goal.

Pensacola put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Peoria to score on any of its four power plays. The Rivermen were unable to stop the Ice Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Pensacola eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Pensacola also had goals scored by Brandon Zurn and Joe Caveney, who each put in one. More assists for Pensacola came via Stephen Buco, who had one and Paul Rodrigues, who had two.

Peoria excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Rivermen were helped by Adam Stuart, who registered one goal. Stuart scored 12:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola. Steve Morra assisted on the tally. Walker Wintoneak also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Mark Corbett and Ben Power, who each chipped in one.

Matt Zenzola made 25 saves for the Ice Flyers on 27 shots. Pensacola incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Peoria's Kyle Rank stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Rivermen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
