Carleton Place beats Ottawa 3-2 after comeback scare

The Ottawa Senators tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Carleton Place Canadians would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Carleton Place took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Ottawa storm back on a Luke McCaw goal 13:28 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

With the win, the Canadians avoided elimination to make the series score 3-4 in the best of seven series.

Carleton Place was led by Jordan Larson, who grabbed one goal. Larson scored 13:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Carleton Place. Brett Murray assisted on the tally.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Marcus Joseph, who also had one goal and one assist. Will LeNeave also scored for Carleton Place. More assists for Carleton Place came via Logan Buchanan and Bryce VanHorn, who each chipped in one.

The Senators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Ottawa was led by Mitchell Gibson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Gibson scored 12:10 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jody Sullivan picked up the assist. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Dean Hewines, who had one.

Colton Point made 28 saves for the Canadians on 30 shots. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ian Andriano rejected 24 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
