Carleton Place blows out Ottawa, 3-0

The Carleton Place Canadians were firing on all cylinders against the Ottawa Senators, and when the final buzzer sounded Canadians emerged with a 3-0 win.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Ottawa faces elimination next time out.

Carleton Place pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

The Canadians were led by Bryce VanHorn, who grabbed one goal. VanHorn scored 16:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Marcus Joseph picked up the assist.

Carleton Place excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Senators were unable to stop the Canadians from sending pucks towards the net, and Carleton Place eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Carleton Place also had goals scored by Connor Merkley and Brett Murray, who each put in one. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Matt Lombardozzi and Jordan Larson, who each chipped in one.

Ottawa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Carleton Place power plays.

The Canadians' Colton Point stopped 23 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Ian Andriano made 29 saves for the Senators on 32 shots. Ottawa incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
