Caledonia downs Waterloo, 5-2

The Caledonia Corvairs won 5-2 over the Waterloo Siskins.

The win by Caledonia clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Corvairs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Caledonia kept Waterloo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitchell Datz made 39 saves on 44 shots. The Corvairs got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Caledonia was helped by Tait Seguin, who registered one goal. Seguin scored 12:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia. Jacob Bianchi assisted on the tally. Caledonia additionally got points from Daniel Volpe, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Corey Pawley, who also had one goal and one assist. Caledonia also had goals scored by Ryan Moran and Austin Brown, who each put in one. More assists for Caledonia came via Chadd Bauman, Jake Brown, and Matthew Hore, who contributed one each and Blake Luscombe and Matt McCartney, who each chipped in two.

The Siskins forced the Corvairs goalie Mark Sinclair to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Waterloo was helped by Brett Schaefer, who finished with one goal. Schaefer scored 8:58 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. Datz picked up the assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Nick Hirst as well. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Luke Gazzola and Connor Bodnar, who contributed one each.

Sinclair recorded 34 saves for Caledonia. The Corvairs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Siskins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
