Mississippi RiverKings downs Louisiana, 5-2

Mississippi RiverKings won 5-2 over the Louisiana IceGators.

The win by Mississippi RiverKings clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Mississippi RiverKings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Louisiana to score on any of its four power plays.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Todd Hosmer, who grabbed one goal. Hosmer scored short handed 12:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings was on a disadvantage when Tim Boyle went off the ice for cross checking. Cullen Bradshaw picked up the assist. Others who scored for Mississippi RiverKings included Leo Thomas, who had two and Reid Campbell and Devin Mantha, who scored one goal each. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Linden Bahm, who had one and Ryan Marcuz, who had two.

The IceGators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Louisiana was led by Anton Lennartsson, who registered one goal. Lennartsson scored 11:25 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Mississippi RiverKings. Jeremy Boyer provided the assist. Louisiana also got a goal from John Daniels as well. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Mike Kavanagh, who had one.

Peter Di Salvo made 18 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 20 shots. Mississippi RiverKings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The IceGators' starting goalie, Brad Barone, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Adam Courchaine, who stopped eight shots. Louisiana incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
