Knoxville hangs on, beats Fayetteville 2-0

The Knoxville Ice Bears took the lead against the Fayetteville FireAntz in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

A goal 13:19 into the first period by Andrew Bonazza proved to be the game winner, and powered Knoxville to the victory.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Fayetteville faces elimination next time out.

The Ice Bears were boosted by Brian Billett, who turned in a shutout with 28 saves.

Knoxville was sparked by Bonazza, who grabbed one goal.

The Ice Bears did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Michael Hill also scored for Knoxville. More assists for Knoxville came via Garrett Vermeersch and Jason Price, who contributed one each.

The FireAntz did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling just one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Fayetteville was led by Josh McQuade, who took four shots.

Knoxville registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Sean Bonar rejected 16 shots on goal for the FireAntz. Fayetteville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
