Peoria blows out Macon Mayhem, 4-1

The Peoria Rivermen were firing on all cylinders against Macon Mayhem, and when the final buzzer sounded Rivermen emerged with a 4-1 win.

The win by Peoria clinched the best of three series at 2-1.

The Rivermen got the win behind a great game by Steve Morra, who had two goals and one assist. Morra scored the first of his two goals at 15:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Connor P. Toomey provided the assist. Morra's next tally made the score 3-1 Peoria with 10:00 left in the second period. Dave Pszenyczny assisted on the tally.

Peoria's penalty kill excelled, as the Rivermen gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Peoria stifled Macon Mayhem's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rivermen kept Macon Mayhem's goalie busy throughout the game, and Garrett Bartus made 31 saves on 35 shots.

Peoria also got points from Pszenyczny, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Peoria also got a goal from Alec Hagaman as well. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Chris Wilson and Adam Stuart, who contributed one each.

Macon Mayhem was led by Jake Trask, who scored the team's only goal. Trask scored short handed 3:01 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Macon Mayhem found itself down a man on Daniel Gentzler's slashing. Shawn Skelly picked up the assist.

Peoria's Kyle Rank stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Rivermen incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Macon Mayhem incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
