Macon Mayhem's comeback falls short, Peoria wins 2-0Owens Center Fri, Apr 15, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Macon Mayhem almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Peoria Rivermen managed to pull out a 2-0 win in the end. Peoria led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Rivermen's Walker Wintoneak scored at 4:30 in the third period to put Peoria up 3-0. With the win, the Rivermen avoided elimination to make the series score 1-1 in the best of three series. Peoria was led by Alec Hagaman, who had one goal. Hagaman scored 6:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Benjamin Rubin picked up the assist. The Rivermen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Macon Mayhem power plays. Macon Mayhem was unable to stop Peoria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rivermen eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Peoria also got a goal from Josh Harris as well. In addition, Peoria received assists from Dan Bremner, Ben Power, and Adam Stuart, who each chipped in one. Macon Mayhem excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Macon Mayhem was led by Shawn Skelly, who took four shots. Kyle Rank recorded 20 saves for Peoria. The Rivermen ended with 39 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and three majors. Garrett Bartus made 40 saves for Macon Mayhem on 42 shots. Macon Mayhem ended with 37 minutes in penalty time with six minors and three majors.
