Macon Mayhem outlasts Peoria, 3-2Macon Centreplex Wed, Apr 13, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between Macon Mayhem and the Peoria Rivermen was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Macon Mayhem emerged with a 3-2 win. Macon Mayhem gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jake Trask 18:45 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Peoria faces elimination next time out. Macon Mayhem got the win behind a great game by Shawn Skelly, who had one goal and two assists. Skelly scored 6:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Macon Mayhem. Daniel Gentzler provided the assist. Macon Mayhem relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Skelly, Trask and Jackson Brewer took 15 of the team's 24 shots. Macon Mayhem also got points from Trask, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Macon Mayhem came via Ryan Michel and Mark Rivera, who contributed one each. Macon Mayhem was unable to stop the Rivermen from sending pucks towards the net, and Peoria eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The Rivermen were led by Cody Dion, who tallied one goal and one assist. Dion scored on the power play 9:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Peoria had gotten the advantage when Macon Mayhem's Nicholas Kuqali was sent off for slashing. Adam Stuart picked up the assist. Dave Pszenyczny also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Walker Wintoneak, who had one. Macon Mayhem's Garrett Bartus stopped 41 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Macon Mayhem incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. David Jacobson rejected 21 shots on goal for the Rivermen. Peoria incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
