Leamington's Opblinger deadly on offense in 4-1 win against London

Matthew Opblinger was all over the ice for the Leamington Flyers, as he tallied two goals in Leamington's 4-1 win over the London Nationals.

Opblinger's tallies came at 6:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington and 3:39 into the third to make the score 3-1 Leamington.

The win by the Flyers broke a deadlock and gave Leamington a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

London was stymied by the Flyers' netminder Michael Barrett, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Barrett certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.59 entering the contest.

Leamington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Nationals to score on any of their five power plays.

Leamington also got points from Derek Elliott, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Liam Hogan, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Leamington received assists from Mitchell Crevatin, Colin Moore, Zach Guilbeault, and Mitchell Amante, who each chipped in one.

London forced the Flyers goalie Barrett to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Nationals were led by Callum Ruddock, who scored the team's only goal. Ruddock scored 18:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. Kevin Madden provided the assist.

Leamington incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Connor Hughes made 22 saves for London on 25 shots. The Nationals incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
