Caledonia rolls over St. Catharines, 4-1

The Caledonia Corvairs had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the St. Catharines Falcons.

The win by Caledonia clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Corvairs' Mark Sinclair was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. Sinclair certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.7 entering the contest.

Caledonia was sparked by Matthew Hore, who grabbed one goal. Hore scored 8:57 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia. Corey Pawley assisted on the tally.

St. Catharines was unable to stop the Corvairs from sending pucks towards the net, and Caledonia eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Corvairs got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Caledonia also had goals scored by Nick Zottl, Jordan Brown, and Matt McCartney, who scored one goal each. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Mitchell Fitzmorris, who had two and Ryan Punkari, Tyler Hill, Tait Seguin, and Jake Brown, who each chipped in one.

The Falcons were led by Broderick Kelly, who scored the team's only goal. Kelly scored on the power play 12:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. St. Catharines had gotten the advantage when Caledonia's Brown was sent off for slashing. Brandon Cercone picked up the assist.

The Corvairs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Joel Horodziejczyk made 37 saves for the Falcons on 41 shots. St. Catharines incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Falcons, Jake Evans was ejected from the game.
