Great Falls blows out Yellowstone, 8-1

Great Falls had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over Yellowstone.

Yellowstone's nine penalties came back to haunt it, as Yellowstone let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Great Falls was led by Tyler Garcia, who finished with one goal and one assist. Garcia scored on the power play 19:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Great Falls. A slashing penalty on Mason Stewart had put Great Falls on the power play. Wade Wylie assisted on the tally.

Great Falls stifled Yellowstone's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Great Falls' offense rang up 38 shots on Yellowstone's net. Great Falls surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Great Falls has scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Great Falls could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Great Falls additionally got points from Josh Larson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Wylie, who also racked up three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Stevan Goran also scored for Great Falls. More assists for Great Falls came via Tanner Congdon, who had one and Tegan Harrington, who had two.

Yellowstone found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Yellowstone was led by Jake Dickison, who scored the team's only goal. Dickison scored 12:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Yellowstone. Hunter Ruschmeyer picked up the assist.

Lauren Massie made 20 saves for Great Falls on 21 shots. Yellowstone's Lance Knudson stopped 30 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Yellowstone registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
