Cape Cod falls to Jersey Shore after surprising comeback

Jersey Shore climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat Cape Cod, 5-4.

Jersey Shore never led in the game until netting the game winner. Jersey Shore was down 4-2 after a goal by Cape Cod's Frank Oakley at 5:36 in the third period. Jersey Shore tied things up at 4-4 on a short handed goal by Frederic Ampleman at 13:41 in the third period. Jersey Shore scored the game winner at 14:54 in the third period on a goal by Ampleman.

The win by Jersey Shore clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Cape Cod was unable to stop Jersey Shore from sending pucks towards the net, and Jersey Shore eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Jersey Shore was led by Christian Cooley, who grabbed three goals and one assist. Jersey Shore also got points from John Rubin, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Jersey Shore came via Travis Valvo and Dylan Plsek, who each chipped in one and Ben Wingbermuehle, Bogdan Khvatov, and Freddie Schaljo, who contributed two each.

Cape Cod put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Shore to score on any of its five power plays.

Cape Cod was helped by Mike Jessman, who registered one goal. Jessman scored 59 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cape Cod. Zack Goodman assisted on the tally. Cape Cod additionally got points from James Brosnan, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Oakley, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cape Cod also got a goal from Maxime Dordet as well. In addition, Cape Cod received assists from Aaron Deady, Anthony Giannelli, Dan Moore, Chris ODonnell, and Eric Szeker, who each chipped in one.

Scott Albertoni recorded 20 saves for Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cape Cod's Steven Schmitt stopped 38 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Cape Cod incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
