WHITBY beats WATERLOO 3-1 after comeback scareMcKinney Centre Sat, Mar 19, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
WATERLOO tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but WHITBY held on for a 3-1 victory. A goal by Brooke McQuigge put WHITBY up 3-0 in the second period, but WATERLOO pulled to within two on Sarah Rettinger's tally 18:36 into the third period. The win gave WHITBY a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. WATERLOO was stymied by WHITBY's netminder Emma Schram, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Schram certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 1.6 entering the contest. WHITBY was led by Briana Colangelo, who racked up one goal and one assist. Colangelo scored 10:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 WHITBY. Rebecca Hall provided the assist. WHITBY also got a goal from Victoria Howran as well. In addition, WHITBY received assists from Alicia Pallister, Samantha Isbell, Hailey Wilson, and Katie Mikkelsen, who each chipped in one. More assists for WATERLOO came via Jamieson Estabrooks and Megan Johnston, who contributed one each. WHITBY incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. WATERLOO's Cohen Myers stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that she faced. WATERLOO incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
