St. Catharines rides Horodziejczyk to victory over Ancaster, 3-1

The St. Catharines Falcons relied on the sparkling performance of Joel Horodziejczyk in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Ancaster Avalanche.

The win by St. Catharines clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Falcons were led by Tyler Jackson, who had one goal. Jackson scored 4:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Jake Evans picked up the assist.

St. Catharines also had goals scored by Nicholas Dozzi and Anthony Postiglione, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Catharines came via Mitchell Webb and Connor Hill, who contributed one each.

Ancaster kept St. Catharines' goalie busy throughout the game, and Horodziejczyk made 38 saves on 39 shots.

The Avalanche were led by Jesse Hilton, who scored the team's only goal. Hilton scored on the power play 2:41 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ancaster had gotten the advantage when the Falcons' Aaron St. Pierre was sent off for holding. Owen Burnell assisted on the tally.

St. Catharines incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Cole Ceci recorded 26 saves for the Avalanche. Ancaster incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
