Trenton outlasts Wellington, 4-2

The Trenton Golden Hawks and the Wellington Dukes were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Trenton made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Liam Morgan's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

The win by the Golden Hawks broke a deadlock and gave Trenton a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Morgan was all over the ice for the Golden Hawks, as he tallied two goals in the win.

Trenton forced Wellington goalie Sam Tanguay to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Trenton additionally got points from Hunter Fargey, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Adam Clements also scored for Trenton. In addition, Trenton received assists from Mitch Emerson, who had two and Blayne Oliver, Danny Hanlon, Lucas Brown, Daniel Urbani, and Josh Allan, who contributed one each.

The Dukes were helped by Shaw Boomhower, who registered one goal. Boomhower scored 2:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wellington. Austin Labelle provided the assist. Wellington also got a goal from Nicolas Mucci as well. More assists for Wellington came via Mackenzie Warren, Tyler Burnie, and Matt Adams, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Urbani made 27 saves for the Golden Hawks on 29 shots. Trenton incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Wellington's Tanguay stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Dukes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
