Molella lifts Georgetown over North York, 5-2

Behind a great game by Bailey Molella, who had two goals, the Georgetown Raiders defeated the North York Rangers, 5-2.

Molella scored at 18:40 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Georgetown and again while 14:55 into the third to make the score 4-2 Georgetown.

The win by Georgetown clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Raiders pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 10 penalty minutes.

Georgetown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow North York to score on any of its six power plays.

Georgetown also got points from Jake Payette, who also had one goal and one assist. Georgetown also had goals scored by Ashur Elliot and Jack Jacome, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Ryan Takamatsu, Jordan Crocker, Brendan Jacome, and Jonathan Hampton, who contributed one each and Arran MacDonald and Matthew Cairns, who each chipped in two.

The Raiders were unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and North York eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Rangers were led by Nick Zanette, who tallied two goals. Zanette scored the first of his two goals short handed at 2:37 into the second period to make the score 1-1. North York was on a disadvantage when Tyler Currie went off the ice for interference. Zanette's next tally short handed made the score 2-1 North York with 9:38 left in the second period. Kyle Clarke picked up the assist. In addition, North York received assists from Shawn Tessier, who had one.

Andrew Masters recorded 30 saves for Georgetown. The Raiders registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Georgetown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Wyatt Hicken was ejected from the game. Gianluca Baggetta rejected 25 shots on goal for the Rangers. North York incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
