Early goals doom Niagara Falls, falls to Caledonia, 13-2

The Caledonia Corvairs opened up a five-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 13-2 win over the Niagara Falls Canucks.

The win by Caledonia clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Corvairs got the win behind a great game by Matthew Hore, who had two goals and one assist. Hore scored the first of his two goals at 6:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Corey Pawley picked up the assist. Hore's next tally made the score 3-0 Caledonia with 6:05 left in the first period. Caledonia had taken the advantage when Niagara Falls' Andrew Barbeau got sent off for fighting (aggressor). Mitchell Fitzmorris assisted on the tally.

The Canucks fell victim to a deadly the Corvairs power play, which ripped Niagara Falls for four goals.

Caledonia forced the Canucks' netminders to work without much rest, taking 50 shots and forcing 37 saves. Adam Dentico made 30 stops and Tynan Lauziere made seven.

Caledonia additionally got points from Bailey Fletcher, who also registered one goal and one assist, Blake Luscombe, who also finished with two goals and three assists, Fitzmorris, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, Tyler Hill, who also had two goals and two assists, and Quentin Maksimovich, who also registered two goals and three assists. Others who scored for Caledonia included Davis Brown and Jordan Brown, who each put in one. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Todd Ratchford, who had two and Daniel Volpe, Matt McCartney, Chadd Bauman, and Tait Seguin, who each chipped in one.

The Corvairs were unable to stop Niagara Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canucks eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Mark Sinclair made 32 saves for Caledonia on 34 shots. The Corvairs incurred 62 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Niagara Falls totaled 53 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. Team's Patrick McCabe and Barbeau were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
