Jersey Shore downs New York in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Jersey Shore pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over New York on a clutch goal by Travis Valvo.

With the win, Jersey Shore avoided elimination to make the series score 1-1 in the best of three series.

Jersey Shore nearly gave up a two-score lead. Jersey Shore made the score 2-0 on a goal by John Rubin at 15:48 in the second period. New York pulled to within 2-1 on a goal by Alexei Pilatsky at 14:10 in the third period.

Valvo was all over the ice for Jersey Shore, as he registered two goals in the win. Valvo found the back of the net on the power play 48 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Jersey Shore and again while 16:23 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Jersey Shore.

Jersey Shore's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five New York power plays. Jersey Shore forced New York goalie Stephen Mundinger to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Shore were Frederic Ampleman, who had two and Marcus McCall, Bogdan Khvatov, Tyler Goclan, and Dylan Plsek, who each chipped in one.

Jersey Shore was unable to stop New York from sending pucks towards the net, and New York eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

New York was helped by Dominick Sacco, who tallied one goal. Sacco scored 16:30 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Daniel Backstrom picked up the assist. More assists for New York came via Martin Grinberg, who had one and Phillip Garcia, who had two.

Scott Albertoni made 41 saves for Jersey Shore on 43 shots. Jersey Shore incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mundinger recorded 55 saves for New York. New York incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
