Cape Cod survives Lewiston/Auburn comeback, wins 5-3

Cape Cod came close to giving away a four-goal lead to Lewiston/Auburn, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory.

Cape Cod led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Cape Cod's Aaron Deady scored at 10:09 in the second period to put Cape Cod up 4-0.

The win by Cape Cod clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Dan Moore had a great game for Cape Cod, netting two goals. Moore scored at 47 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cape Cod and again while 19:31 into the third to make the score 5-3 Cape Cod.

Cape Cod's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Lewiston/Auburn power plays. Cape Cod's offense rang up 45 shots on Lewiston/Auburn's net.

Cape Cod additionally got points from Maxime Dordet, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Mike Jessman, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Cape Cod came via Chuck Costello, who had one, Dylan Legarie, who had two, and Chris ODonnell, who had three.

Lewiston/Auburn kept Cape Cod's goalie busy throughout the game, and Steven Schmitt made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Lewiston/Auburn was helped by Clay Janowiak, who registered one goal. Janowiak scored 4:43 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Cape Cod. David Fish picked up the assist. Lewiston/Auburn also had goals scored by Brett Bittner and Austin Davis, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lewiston/Auburn received assists from Linder Kenyon, Mike Heffernan, and Colby Siering, who each chipped in one.

Cape Cod incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Lewiston/Auburn's Claes Endre stopped 40 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Lewiston/Auburn incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
