Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as OAKVILLE defeated TORONTO in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. TORONTO got a shootout goal from Celine Frappier (C). In addition to the clincher, OAKVILLE got a shootout goal from Emma Maltais.The win gave OAKVILLE a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. OAKVILLE came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. OAKVILLE trailed 1-0 after a goal by TORONTO's Haley Shugart at 6:42 in the first period. OAKVILLE knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Maddie Sisokin at 3:33 in the second period. OAKVILLE's Nikki Cece was a brick wall in net, as she came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past her. Despite the solid performance, Cece will actually see her goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.55 entering the contest. Other players who recorded assists for OAKVILLE were Devon Facchinato and Jessica Smith, who contributed one each. TORONTO's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three OAKVILLE power plays. In addition, TORONTO received assists from Frappier (C) and Tori Haywood, who each chipped in one. OAKVILLE incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Stephanie Neatby recorded 20 saves for TORONTO. TORONTO incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
