Rochester falls apart in second, loses to North Iowa, 12-3

North Iowa scored seven goals in the second period to pull away from Rochester and clinch a 12-3 win.

The win by North Iowa clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

North Iowa got the win on the strength of a great game by Connor Bump, who had two goals and two assists. Bump scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa. North Iowa had taken the advantage when Rochester's Vladislav Shipota got sent off for tripping. Tommy Stang provided the assist. Bump's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 North Iowa with 1:29 left in the first period. Owen Larson picked up the assist.

North Iowa forced Rochester goalie Kyle Plantz to work between the pipes, taking 61 shots. North Iowa got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

North Iowa also got points from Larson, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Joe Burgmeier, who also tallied two goals and two assists, Kohei Sato, who also had one goal and two assists, Austin Jackson, who also registered one goal and three assists, and Brett Gravelle, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. North Iowa also got a goal from Carmen Dalesandro as well. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were Ryan Durant and Mitch Parsons, who each chipped in one and Tom Lindgren, Quinn Fuchs, and Jack Stang, who contributed two each.

Rochester was helped by Nick Paulson, who finished with one goal. Paulson scored 13:31 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Sam Bjellum assisted on the tally. Spencer Hadacek also scored for Rochester. In addition, Rochester received assists from Dylan Boysen, Hunter Heightland, Dan Trageser, Griffen Buck, and Colby DeCarlo, who each chipped in one.

North Iowa's Tommi Ahlgren stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. North Iowa incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Plantz rejected 49 shots on goal for Rochester. Rochester incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
