Stoney Creek completes comeback, beats Brantford, 5-3Gateway Ice Centre Sat, Mar 26, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the Stoney Creek Generals battled back to claim a 5-3 victory over the Brantford Blast. Stoney Creek never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Generals trailed 3-0 after a power play goal by Brantford's Cameron Sault at 19:31 in the first period. Stoney Creek knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Nathan Pageau at 1:11 in the third period. The Generals netted the game winner at 10:11 in the third period on a goal by Pageau. The win by Stoney Creek clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. Matt Smith was all over the ice for the Generals, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Smith scored the first of his two goals at 6:43 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Brantford. Ryan Healy provided the assist. Smith's next tally made the score 4-3 Stoney Creek with 9:49 left in the third period. Stoney Creek kept the Blast's goalie busy throughout the game, and Anthony Marshall made 44 saves on 49 shots. Stoney Creek also got points from Pageau, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Jarrett Konkle also scored for Stoney Creek. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Andrew Radjenovic, who had one. Brantford's offense rang up 45 shots on the Generals' net. The Blast were helped by Jamie Williams, who registered one goal. Williams scored 16:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brantford. Ryan McCarthy picked up the assist. Brantford also got a goal from Derek Medeiros as well. In addition, Brantford received assists from Dustin Alcock, who had two and Chris Rebernik and Jacob Ledyard, who contributed one each. Daniel Svedin rejected 42 shots on goal for Stoney Creek. The Generals incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brantford incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
