Huge game by Backstrom boosts New York over Roc City, 9-5

New York's Daniel Backstrom had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing four assists in his team's 9-5 win over Roc City.

Backstrom scored at 18:55 into the first period to make the score 4-2 Roc City and again while on the power play 4:14 into the third to make the score 7-4 New York.

The win by New York clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:33 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

New York forced Roc City goalie Patrick Massey to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots.

New York also got points from Jimmy Warrick, who also had two goals and two assists, Martin Grinberg, who also registered one goal and one assist, Dominick Sacco, who also tallied two goals and one assist, and Nick Jean-Louis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Alexei Pilatsky also scored for New York. In addition, New York received assists from Eric Hewitt and John Perreta, who each chipped in one and Shawn Eastman and Sam Shaheen, who contributed two each.

Roc City's offense rang up 60 shots on New York's net.

Roc City was led by Justin Allen, who had one goal and two assists. Allen scored 1:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Roc City. Zach Bucholz picked up the assist. Others who scored for Roc City included Brandon Corey, who had two and Aidan Conolly and Sam Cammilleri, who scored one goal each. More assists for Roc City came via Jared Tam-Grimshaw and Anthony DePetres, who each chipped in one.

Stephen Mundinger made 55 saves for New York on 60 shots. New York totaled 76 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and two majors and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Massey recorded 49 saves for Roc City. Roc City totaled 127 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors and three majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Team's Nicholas Cignarale and DePetres were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
