Ottawa outlasts Kemptville, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Ottawa Senators escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Kemptville 73s.

Ottawa gained the winning advantage on a goal by Louis-Charles Croteau 18:24 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The win gave the Senators a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Jody Sullivan and Mitchell Gibson provided the spark for Ottawa, combining for two goals and four assists. Sullivan had one goal and two assists and Gibson also notched one goal and two assists.

Ottawa also got points from Luke McCaw, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Gibson, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Ottawa also got a goal from Alexandre Way as well. More assists for Ottawa came via Greg Meireles, who had two and Evan Lindquist, Sean Rappleyea, and Jaren Burke, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville kept the Senators' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Andriano made 37 saves on 40 shots.

The 73s were helped by Victor Tracy, who registered two goals. Tracy scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kemptville had gotten the advantage when Ottawa's Geoffrey Lawson was sent off for tripping. Jake Gaudet picked up the assist. Tracy's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Kemptville with 17:17 left in the second period. Gaudet provided the assist. Kemptville additionally got points from Gaudet, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Cameron Russell, who had two and Tyson Kirkby and Bobby Dow, who contributed one each.

The Senators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The 73s' Nicholas Hodgins stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Kemptville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
