M1 Iowa State University uses early goal to top M1 Minot State University, 2-0

Jake Uglem scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the M1 Iowa State University Cyclones held off the challenges of the M1 Minot State University Beavers in a tough 2-0 win.

M1 Iowa State University took over the lead for good with a goal by Uglem at 11:48 in the first period. Tony Uglem provided the assist.

The Cyclones were boosted by Derek Moser, who turned in a shutout with 40 saves. Moser certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.0 entering the contest.

M1 Iowa State University was led by Uglem, who grabbed one goal.

The Cyclones put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Minot State University to score on any of its three power plays. M1 Iowa State University put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 3.5 it averages per game.

M1 Iowa State University also got a goal from Aaron Azevedo as well. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Iowa State University were Cory Sellers, who had one.

The Beavers were held below their usual level of production. M1 Minot State University puts an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. The Beavers forced the Cyclones goalie Moser to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

M1 Iowa State University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Connor Beauchamp made 25 saves for M1 Minot State University on 27 shots. The Beavers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
