Strathroy uses big second period to beat London, 5-0

The London Nationals allowed the Strathroy Rockets to net three goals during the second period and fell, 5-0.

With the win, Strathroy avoided elimination to make the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series.

The Rockets were led by Jeff Clarke, who had one goal. Clarke scored 7:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. Dillon Saunders picked up the assist.

Strathroy put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow London to score on any of its five power plays. The Nationals were unable to stop the Rockets from sending pucks towards the net, and Strathroy eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Strathroy additionally got points from Shane Bulitka, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Nick Griffin, who also had one goal and one assist, and Saunders, who also registered one goal and one assist. Lucas Latina also scored for Strathroy. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Kieran Milne and Noah Tooke, who each chipped in one and Evan Hogg and Max Ewart, who contributed two each.

London excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Rockets to get one power play goal on 12 chances.

Dane Gubbels rejected 23 shots on goal for Strathroy. The Rockets incurred 48 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Zack Weir recorded 33 saves for the Nationals. London incurred 46 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors.
