Kingston boosted by Richer's play in net, beats Cobourg 2-1INVISTA Center Thu, Mar 03, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kingston Voyageurs relied on the sparkling performance of David Richer in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Cobourg Cougars. The win gave Kingston a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Voyageurs were paced by Brandon Nadeau, who grabbed one goal. Nadeau scored 3:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kingston. Cole Langfield assisted on the tally. Kingston stifled Cobourg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Voyageurs' offense rang up 36 shots on the Cougars' net. Kingston also got points from Reid Russell, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Kingston came via Colin Tonge and Connor Cobbold, who contributed one each. Cobourg did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Cougars were led by Ryan Casselman, who scored the team's only goal. Casselman scored 17:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Reade MacInnis picked up the assist. Kingston's Richer stopped 28 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Voyageurs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Stefano Durante recorded 34 saves for Cobourg. The Cougars registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
