The Oakville Blades survived a determined comeback attempt by the St. Michaels Buzzers on the way to a 2-1 win. Oakville made the score 2-0 on a goal by Drew Worrad at 5:20 in the third period, and St. Michaels got as close as 2-1 when Thomas Beretta scored 17:04 into the third period. The win gave the Blades a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Oakville's Brendan McGlynn was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, McGlynn will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest. The Blades pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 46 penalty minutes. Oakville additionally got points from Ryan Foss, who also registered one goal and one assist. The Buzzers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Oakville power plays. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from A.J. Dorazio and Cameron Wright, who contributed one each. For Oakville, Patrick Kudla and Ryan Garvey were ejected from the contest. St. Michaels' Mark Manolescu stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Buzzers totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-10 on the power play. St. Michaels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Colton Trumbla was ejected from the game.
